Nope! Our program is for aspiring teachers, as well as people who simply want to deepen their knowledge of yoga and their own daily practice.
We strongly recommend that applicants have a consistent existing practice prior to signing up.
Yes! It is our goal to provide you with the knowledge and confidence to walk away from your training armed with the ability to lead a group practice suitable for teaching at a variety of studios. Within the training, you will learn Bend’s signature Mixed class. Upon graduation, you will be able to inquire and apply for potential teaching opportunities at all Bend Hot Yoga Studio’s locations. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your own voice as an instructor, and you will also learn how to build safe, effective flows. You’ll also gain essential information on the business side of starting your career as a yoga teacher.
A unique feature of this training is the scheduling format. The 200 hours will be covered over 7 weekends. Within less than 6 months, you can earn your certification! This training prepares you for both teaching in a variety of settings, as well as specifically preparing you to teach at Bend. Additionally, the training includes a segment on Ayurveda and healthy lifestyle habits that will energize your daily life in multiple ways.
To ensure a comfortable practice space and a healthy teacher-to-student ratio, we have limited the training to 20 students.
Bend’s Yoga TT is a school of Hatha Yoga that will emphasize the teaching of postures, alignment and breath work. You will be able to teach Hatha Yoga classes that demonstrate intelligent sequencing, fluid Vinyasas and clear instruction.

Our training will provide a strong foundation in the physical aspects of yoga, including asana, alignment, anatomy, adjustments and modifications. We will discuss and practice methods for teaching, cues for each pose and how to give demonstrations. In addition to the practice emphasis you will learn about what it means to do yoga “off the mat” and bring the philosophical teachings into your everyday interactions.
Our training is designed to work with the “everyday” participant, beginning Friday evenings from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m., Saturdays from 6:30 am - 3:30 pm, and Sundays from 6:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. with a one hour lunch break each day. Our goal is to allow our participants to be able to still participate in normal weekend activities after training is complete!
Informational Meeting - September 2, 2022 (time TBD)
Weekend 1 – January 6-8, 2023
The full schedule can be found here.
Any hours of the training that are missed will need to be “made up” in order to fulfill the required hours for certification. The makeup work will be a blend of home study assignments, written reflection, and one-on-one private instruction with a course instructor. There will be an additional charge for private instruction that is required for the completion of the training.
In order to pass the course and become a certified teacher you will attend all of the 180 hours of face-to-face instruction, as well as complete the assigned homework between each phase of the training. Homework will include readings, observations, reflections, and personal practice. The culminating weekend of the training will be an opportunity to design and teach a one hour practice to the rest of the class. You will receive ongoing feedback regarding your teaching and overall participation in the training.
We invite you to apply at your earliest convenience using the online form. We expect this training to sell out! We encourage you to apply for the course early, to secure your spot.
